A brand spanking new Japanese Watchmen trailer has arrived online, featuring a good chunk of fresh scenes not included in any of the other trailers or behind-the-scenes videos. Surprisingly, it’s heavy on the Nixon stuff for some reason while also highlighting Fidel Castro, JFK and the threat of nuclear war.

Cinematical has just received this exclusive poster for Sunshine Cleaning, starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin. The film follows a down-on-her-funds mom (Adams) who, in order to raise money to send her son to private school, listens to the advice of her father (Arkin) and starts up a crime scene cleaning business with her sister (Blunt).

So remember that whole Shazam! movie, with John August writing, Peter Segal (Get Smart) directing and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starring as the villain, Black Adam? During the Chargers vs. Colts playoff game yesterday, NBC was airing commercials advertising a 3D trailer for the movie Monsters vs. Aliens (first of its kind?), which will also coincide with the airing of a full episode of the TV show Chuck in 3D.

Near the end of the closing credits for Clint Eastwood’s new Gran Torino is a disclaimer that caught my attention. It reads as follows:

“No person or entity associated with this film received payment or anything of value, or entered into any agreement, in connection with the depiction of tobacco products.”

In other words: Some of the characters smoke in this movie, but that was our choice.

The Motion Picture Association of America does a few other things too, but its most visible impact on movie-going is its ratings system. G, PG, PG-13, R, or NC-17, you gotta have a rating for your movie if you want most theater chains to show it, and the MPAA’s secretive clan of breast-counters and violence-ignorers decides which label its gets.

Yikes — Warner Bros. obviously landed on Santa’s naughty list this year. The New York Times reports that the judge has ruled in favor of Fox Studios.
