Lerner Pulls ‘Angel Girl’

Upon learning that the widely publicized Holocaust love story of Herman and Roma Rosenblat, which inspired the picture book Angel Girl, is not true, Lerner Publishing Group announced yesterday that it would pull the book from shelves. The cancellation follows on the heels of Berkley’s announcement that it would halt publication of Rosenblat’s memoir, Angel at the Fence.

What made you turn to fiction after such success with memoir? I always wrote fiction; it was my way of taking a moment from my AIDS work.
